why don't the respective countries use the WHC as an opportunity to showcase the countries best 22 and under players? meaning draft eligible players and prospects that haven't quite made it to the pros yet. a great chance for players that didn't make the WJHC team.

Because the IIHF uses it to rank countries for the Olympics

It should be done the same as soccer. Where the team is basically an U-23 with the option of bringing 3 overage players.

put him in the AHL for a while to regain his confidence. he should've never been up with the big team this season.

You never know what to expect from him? He lacks consistency, that's the problem and unfortunately seems to be the problem with a lot of our players. He needs to put it together this year.

GArth Snow and Wang are licking there chops right now Satan will be back playing for the Islanders next year. Sign him to like a 3 year deal and that will beour big signing along with Staios. Ah next year is going to be great.

On a side note the playoffs are going as predicted Phoenix the Rangers in the STanley cup with Phoenix winning caus Bettman wants them to stay.

Not for nothing but I would have taken him over Rolston, Reasoner and Pandolfo last year.

Yeah and the Worlds are more for a chance for the European league players to showcase themselves at the international stage cause alot of the olympians are still in the playoffs or pooped from a long NHL season.

And thanks Slovakians! That gives Canada a grip on first place after the OT loss to you guys.

if i were a draft eligible player i certainly would not join a competitive tournament and risk injury just 1 month away from achieving my dream of being drafted to an NHL team

well if you're an nhl draft prospect afraid of getting injured, you should probably hang em up then. but if you're an nhl draft prospect who is willing to do whatever it takes to up your value, a tourny like this could be of use.

besides, a month before the draft, the nhl team's have a good idea of where each prospect stands.

hang em up?? i think thats a bit drastic every kid that gets drafted that day will have achieved their dream; to skip out on a meaningless tournament that could effect the outcome (IE: injury) isnt a terrible idea....ESPECIALLY, if like you say, the nhl teams already have a good idea of where each prospect stands.

I dont know Bettman will do whatever he can for his boys to make it. Count on it. Rangers Phoenix in teh finals. NHL needs this in Bettmans eyes. I do hope LA makes it though but that is up to Bettman

I hope they didn't hurt Nino's confidence long term. If I remember correctly, the Islanders had to hire a "life coach" for him last summer. I'm thinking that he's not the most confident kid to begin with. I hope they didn't "Bailey" him.

I think bailey will have 55 points this season at Wong maybe even more
And okposo, I think he will have a good season as well

I get your point and yes it was a bit much to say that but I'm just saying hockey players aren't afraid of getting injured when they play and it could really benefit young players who are looking to improve their draft stock or players that have already been drafted and are looking to impress their nhl clubs

Yeah, but I thought the same for this season. Frustrating players so far, though I'm not sure if either was developed the way they should have been, so I don't really blame them. I hope you're right. Since we've watched both of these players develop for a few years now, it'd be nice to see them both "get it" and flourish here.
